Saint Joseph With Baby Jesus Figure 14" Tall From The Joseph Studio

Not much is known of St. Joseph, the the husband of Mary and the foster father of Jesus. It is certain that he was a carpenter, because the skeptical Nazarenes ask about Jesus, "Is this not the carpenter's son?" (Matthew 13:55).

St. Joseph took Mary as his wife, knowing she was pregnant with the Son of God. We know Joseph loved Jesus. His one concern was for the safety of this child entrusted to him. Joseph was a compassionate, caring man and did everything within his power to protect his family.

St. Joseph respected God and followed His commands in handling the situation with Mary and going to Jerusalem to have Jesus circumcised and Mary purified after Jesus' birth. He took his family to Jerusalem every year for Passover, which was not easy for a working man.

St. Joseph does not appear in Jesus' public life, at his death, or resurrection. Most historians believe he most likely had died before Jesus entered His public ministry.

He is the patron saint of the dying because, assuming he died before Jesus' public life, he died with Jesus and Mary close to him, the way we all would like to leave this earth. Joseph is also patron saint of the Universal Church, families, fathers, pregnant women, travelers, immigrants, house sellers and buyers, craftsmen, engineers, and working people in general. There are two feast days for Joseph: March 19 for Joseph the Husband of Mary and May 1 for Joseph the Worker.

Beautifully detailed devotional statue of St. Joseph holding the baby Jesus by the Joseph Studio. Subdued color and master craftsmanship make this a piece that will bring elegance and warmth to your home, office, or prayer room. A heartfelt gift for Christian family and friends.
